Canada 150 Skating Day – Let’s skate together!

September 27, 2017

@canada150th — check out our Facebook page for the event invitation

Hey Campbell Riverittes! On Sunday, December 10, 2017, at 10am let’s celebrate with a nationwide skating party! We are at home on the ice so let’s lace up together to enjoy our favourite winter activity and to celebrate the completion of the Canada 150 year.

Location:  Strathcona Gardens, Rod Brind’Amour Arena and Lobby
EVERYONE is welcome to this FREE National Skating Party!  Special cakes are being prepared.  Free skate rentals are available on a first come, first serve basis, plus free hot chocolate and popcorn.  Some cool swag and a door prize.
You wouldn’t want to miss our opening ceremonies and the playing of our National Anthem.
To promote the diversity, inclusion and healthy lifestyle that skating represents, an integral piece of the Canada 150 Skating Day legacy will be the introduction of community skate banks, allowing children without equipment the opportunity to take part – not only on December 10th, but for years to come. These skate banks will exist in communities right across the nation, providing helmets and skates to children who may not otherwise have the opportunity to learn to skate.

This project has been made possible in part by the Government of Canada. Rogers Communications is the official sponsor of Canada 150 Skating Day.

A message from Canadian Heritage,

Canada 150 Skating Day is just days away! On December 10, we want to see social media fill up with images of people skating from coast to coast to coast – and we need you to make this happen!

Here’s how you can help:

- Share photos of your event on Instagram, Facebook or Twitter (or all three!) with the hashtags #Canada150 and #SkatingDay. Make sure to mention your location.
- Tag our Canada 150 accounts (Twitter and Facebook: @canada150th; Instagram: @canada150) to let us know you are participating in Canada 150 Skating Day!

We wish you a great activity and we thank you for being part of this nationwide skating event.  Happy skating!
