Skating Programs

To learn more about the Skating Programs the Campbell River Skating Club offers and to see the current Schedule check out our online registration site.

Our programs follow the criteria as set out by Skate Canada.  A couple of years ago significant changes were made to the CanSkate program.  Now the STAR program has changed significantly.  To learn more here is a link to the Introduction and Overview of this program.

The CORE Programs that we offer are PreCanSkate, CanSkate, and CanPower.  Registration fees for these programs cover coaches, ice and club operating costs.  STAR 1 is also covered by registration fees; however, it is the STAR 2-10 skaters that will be paying for Coach fees in addition to registration fees. Click on link for more info about individual CanSkate Programs.

Registration is available online only at  However, you can still pay by cheque or cash.  Our online registration system will tell you how.

If you need to rent skates through the Strathcona Gardens Skate Shop, they are open weekdays from 9:30 am to 5:00 pm.  Cost for rentals are $2.75 or you can buy a 10 pass economy book for $24.75.  See Strathcona Gardens front desk.

Skating Seasons

This is the main season for our programs. It runs from September to April. There are a number of Assessment days, dance partnering practices, and competitions.  There is much accomplished during these sessions.  Skaters and their families look forward to the Christmas Family Skate and Potluck in December and the Gala in March.

In partnership with the Strathcona Gardens Recreation Complex we  offer ice for those skaters wanting to continue skating into May.

This is a short season but a kick-start to the fall/winter season. New programs are developed and skaters start to get in shape for the regular season and a great opportunity to break in those new boots.
